Jan has dedicated his life to creating a sustainable and efficient energy system, starting at the age of 8 when he founded an environmental group in his hometown. For over two decades of his career, he has worked tirelessly as a policy advisor, consultant, researcher, and volunteer, focusing on the transition to clean energy. He is currently the Vice President and European Programme Director at the Regulatory Assistance Project (RAP), a global organisation of energy experts that helps governments develop effective clean energy policies.
An accomplished academic, Jan has contributed extensively to energy research. He is a research associate at Oxford, Cambridge, Sussex, and FU Berlin. His scholarly work includes hundreds of peer-reviewed articles, technical reports, and opinion pieces on energy and sustainability, which have been widely cited and used to shape policy discussions.
Jan serves in various board and expert committee roles with current and past roles including the World Economic Forum’s Advisory Group on Clean Power, Grids and Electrification, the International Energy Agency’s Executive Committee of the Demand Side Management TCP, the European Council for an Energy Efficient Economy (eceee) and GLOBSEC's Energy Advisory Committee.
